Cheshire East Council has launched it’s consultation on proposed changes to the borough’s parking arrangements. This unfortunately includes proposed parking charges for all of Alsager’s Cheshire East owned car parks.

Your Local Labour Team campaigned on opposing car parking charges and will campaign to oppose any introduction of car parking charges in Alsager.

We are working cross-party at Alsager Town Council on a Town Council campaign to make everyone aware of the consultation and proposals, and urge everyone to give your views to Cheshire East Council.

The biggest driver for this review is revenue and budget pressures. Local Council’s like Cheshire East are facing massive budget pressures thanks to the increased pressures of adult social care, cuts to local government funding over the past 13 years and inflation running at around 10-11%.

This Conservative Central Government can help by funding local councils better and we will be lobbying the MP for Congleton as well as the Secretary of State. You can help with adding pressure for better local government funding by signing our open letter that we will be publishing soon.
