The 317 bus service from Alsager to Leighton Hospital is to be reinstated on a Saturday thanks to a decision of Cheshire East Council and the Section 106 monies from the development of the new Sainsbury’s store in Alsager.
Cheshire East Officer Ms Marston confirmed that the weekday 317 D&G service would be extending its timetable to include Saturdays.
We are delighted that this vital service will be reintroduced on a Saturday after it was cut under the Conservatives’ bus cuts in 2018.
This is contrary to the current Independent Candidate for the Alsager Town Council East Ward by-election pledging on her leaflet that she will reinstate the 317 if she is elected.
FACT-CHECK:
– The 317 has been extended due to s106 monies from Sainsbury’s, not because of the independent candidate.
– Alsager Town Council has no responsibility or powers for bus services. Responsibility over the 317 bus service is with D&G & Cheshire East Council.
– The independent candidate was a Conservative Town Councillor when the Conservatives cut the 317 on a Saturday in 2018.
