New inclusive play equipment has been installed in Milton Park and the Fairview Car Park playground, allowing children of all abilities to play together for the first time in Alsager.
Your local Labour Group on Alsager Town Council first pushed for inclusive play equipment last year when the Town Council was considering projects for a CIL funding consultation. Cllr Alison Nayling, supported by Cllr Michael Unett, got inclusive play equipment onto the list of projects and after the resulting CIL consultation, money was allocated towards the project.
Alsager Town Council then researched and finally gave the go ahead for the equipment to be purchased and installed, with all Councillors giving their approval. The first piece of equipment has been installed in Milton Park and the Fairview Car Park playground in the form of a wheelchair accessible roundabout.
It’s important for all children whether able bodied or those who find mobility more challenging to be able to play together on a level footing. It’s time that people should be able to experience inclusion on every level, the feeling of exclusion needs to be a thing of the past.
Cllr Alison Nayling says “the installation of inclusive play equipment is brilliant. I’m glad to see this project delivered and that all children will now be able to play together. All children can benefit through play as it encourages friendship, acceptance and kindness. Thank you to everyone who supported and saw this project through”.
Cllr Michael Unett stated “It’s great to finally see inclusive play equipment in Alsager. While any investment in our parks and open spaces is fantastic, this equipment will have a lasting positive effect for many generations of children”.
